New CADCAM software supports full range of manufacturing services

Continuous improvement at Bright Engineering is not limited to hardware. It is a company-wide philosophy, supported by clearly defined processes, documented quality objectives, and regular management review. The Company has recently invested in Top Solid CAD/CAM

software in a bid to consolidate programming for all its range of CNC services including turning, milling, 5-axis machining and multi-axis multi-tasking machining. The software will be commissioned in July 2026 with training to follow shortly after.

The decision to invest in Top Solid comes after an extended period of reviewing the market for suitable options. The study began at MACH 2026 exhibition where all the main engineering suppliers were on site at the NEC, Birmingham. Bright down selected four products for further review, and received demonstrations. It was the versality of Top Solid that led to the investment decision, and the fact that it will handle all of our machining operations, rather than focussing on one speciality. The implementation is also a catalyst for a major programme of upskilling at Bright Engineering with a focus on staff being multi-functional, able to set and programme different machines within the business and able to plan and programme offline.
